The instructions below will assist with setting up your Google Business user profile, setup your Google My Business and getting your Google Analytics setup so you can measure how well your website is going.
Google Business User Profile
Firstly, did you know that you can set up a Google Business profile using your branded email address even if its not hosted by Google Workspace?. If you have a business email, keep your brand on point and use it! Here is the step-by-step guide;
Step-by-step guide to setting up a Google Business Profile:
- Go to Google.com and click on "Sign in" in the top right corner of the page.
- Click on "Add another account" at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
- Select "Create account" and choose "For myself."
- Enter your first and last name in the appropriate fields and click "Next."
- Enter your desired email address in the "Username" field and click "Next."
- Enter a password for your new account and click "Next."
- Enter your phone number and select whether you want to receive your verification code via text or voice call. Click "Next."
- Enter the verification code you received on your phone and click "Verify."
- Review Google's terms of service and privacy policy, and click "I agree" to continue.
- You will then be directed to the Google Account page. Click on "Business" in the top right corner, then select "Create an account."
- Enter your business name and click "Next."
- Choose the category that best describes your business and click "Next."
- Enter your business address and click "Next."
- Choose whether you want your business location to appear on Google Maps and click "Next."
- Verify your domain ownership by following the prompts. You can either upload an HTML file to your website or add a TXT record to your domain's DNS settings.
Congratulations! You have successfully created a Google Business user profile.
Google My Business
Here are the step-by-step instructions to update your Google My Business page:
- Sign in to your Google My Business account.
- Click on the "Info" tab from the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click on the pencil icon next to the section you want to edit (e.g. business hours, website, phone number, etc.).
- Make the necessary changes and click "Apply".
- To change your cover photo or profile image, click on the "Photos" tab from the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click on the blue "+" button to add a new photo or click on the existing photo to change it.
- The recommended dimensions for the cover photo are 1080 x 608 pixels, and for the profile image, it's 250 x 250 pixels.
- Your Google My Business page will need to be verified before your changes are published. Depending on the verification method you choose (phone, email, or mail), your page can take up to 14 days to be verified.
- When setting up your Google My Business page, you'll need to provide basic business information such as your business name, address, phone number, and website URL.

Google Analytics
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Google Analytics account and connect the Google tracking ID (GA4) to a website:
- Visit the Google Analytics website and click "Start for free" to create a new account.
- Follow the prompts to enter your account and website information.
- On the "Data sharing settings" page, choose your preferences for data sharing and click "Save."
- Click "Create stream" under "GA4 Setup Assistant" and follow the prompts to set up a new tracking ID.
- Copy the tracking code provided on the "Tagging Instructions" page.
- In your website select from Options "Analytics and Ads", paste the GA4 tracking ID under Google Analytics and save and then under Options "Header" scroll to the bottom and paste in the tracking code script and save.
- Return to the Google Analytics website and click "Verify" on the "Tagging Instructions" page.
- Wait a few minutes for Google to verify the tracking code installation.
- Once verified, you can start tracking your website's traffic data in your Google Analytics account.
